  1. What kind of hardware you use for top opening shutters. Can you share their costing.

    Regards

    Sumit

  2. I love the finishing of white kitchen in first 3 pictures. Is that the one made of Membrane & Aluminium. Is the base material aluminium or ply ?

  3. Hi..The kitchen in dark brown..what is the material of the shutters. Also can you please let me know what is the color/texture name of the same.

  4. Ashima – its membrane on MDF. Don't recall the exact shade. Also never choose colours/ textures based on photographs…physically see the samples to decide. The colour shades as seen in photographs can be deceptive

  5. I just loved the overall look and feel of the kitchen. I am trying to design one for mine, and your desing gives me a lot of ideas! I am not sure which hinges and fittings are better. Hettich/Ebco?

  6. Thanks Nandita for such a valuable blog. In your kitchen over the wall closets you have loft up to the ceiling. Is that a real loft or you have closed the gap with ply. I too wanted to have the same for my kitchen but my interior designer didn't agree. According to him since Wall closet are typically 15" deep they can not take the weight of the loft. You will have to create the full box. It would come out expensive to just create a 15" deep loft. I asked him to close the gap with some ply and he said it would be more or less equally expensive.

    Thanks,

    Juhi

  7. Those are lofts – they actually are pretty useful & also hide the chimney ducting.
Cannot comment on the price & weight capacity etc. as it will depend on the material chosen and the design.

  8. Hi Nandita..
What material do you use for the drawers below the sink? How did you take care of water seepage? is PVC better water resistant than plywood?

  9. Usually the drawers below the sink are dummy as these dont have movement space due to the bowl of the sink. However you do get special U shaped drawers made of steel/ PVC for "below sink" use

  10. Hi Nadita,
thanks for your blog. its very informative.
Whether Brass with stainless stell hinges discolor after some time or not. which is the best material for hinges for wardrobes.

    thanks

  11. Hi Nanditha,
Do you work on quartz countertops. Are they good? I wanted to have a whtie quartz countertop with maroon hi-gloss shutters (membrane and aluminium) .Does this sound good?

    Regards,
    Supriya

  12. Between HDF & MDF, HDF is better, however at the same rate you should be able to get Commercial Ply which is better than both HDF & MDF. Hence HDF does not make economic sense – which is really why you dont see HDF being used much in the market.

  13. A cooking range is recommended only if you are into heavy baking, else a hob is better as it allows storage space underneath. Elica, Faber, & Kaff are all good brands – choose the brand based on the particular model you like and any promotional offers running

  14. I am almost finalizing rubber wood with glossy finish. this will be done on machine rather than hand made. How durable is it? heard about bending issue. Secondly seems to have gaps compared to membrane type. chances of cockroach and lizard entering. can we have air tight way? Thirdly rate is about 1900 since machine made. is it ok? Urgent advise appreciated.

  15. Will suggest "framed" rubberwood shutters as these have high resistance to bending.
There should be no gap in a finished/ polished shutter.
I don't want to comment on the costs without complete details as that will be unfair. You may want to check out the market for rates in general
