  1. Hi Nandita,
Beautiful work and thanks for sharing info on interiors.
I need ur inputs on using 30mm grainate for modular kitchen.
My builder is giving 30mm grainate can we go with it for modular kitchen or we should go with 20mm grainate only for modular one.
If we use 30mm grainate for modular kichen what will be disadvantages in long run and does height of the kitchen wil also vary
We are ready to go with 20mm but want to check whether 30mm is equally good as 20mm for modular.
Please share ur inputs it wil b very helpful for us

  2. 30MM granite is fine, rather better, to use. Most builders do not provide 30mm as it is not readily available. You may hence please go ahead, do however inform your Kitchen vendor in advance that you will be using 30MM granite so that he/she may plan accordingly.

  3. Hi Nandita,

Beautiful work and kitchen is good.
Could you please let us know what is the countertop used and from where did you buy those tiles. For shutters is it laminate or membrane?
    Thanks in advance

  4. The countertop is Italian marble and the shutters are in Hi Gloss Laminate. Buying the right tiles is always a bit of a hunt and it is best to check out multiple local stores.

  5. Hi Nandita,

Thanks for wonderful blog. Can you provide inputs for the Bedroom wardrobes. I have quote for MDF with Marine Ply ( Green Ply) which is at Rs.1,350 per SqFt. The designer is informing that the both materials (MDF and MP) are costing Rs.75 per Sq Ft and is of good quality. The other option given is if only MDF is used it will be Rs.1200 per Sq Ft.I am doing the interiors for first time, so not sure of other things I should ask or consider. Also not sure if the rates are reasonable as well.

    Appreciate your comments.

    Thanks,
    Vinod

  6. Hi Vinod,
I cannot comment on the rates as these vary drastically based on the design as well as the vendor making the quote. If the rates quoted for MDF and Marine Ply (assuming Greenply Gold) are the same or within a 20% range then, your budget permitting, it is better to go for marine ply

  7. Hi Nandita
Thanks for sharing useful information to all. Currently we are beautifying our flat, could you please let us know is it ok to go with wallpapers. We have heard that over years it may come off if there is moisture in wall, is it true or it is better to go with texture paint
Are there any particular brands you recommend for wallpapers.

  8. Wallpapers are no recommended for walls that have potential for getting moist, such as external facing or bathroom facing walls. On other walls and if maintained wall paper would last 4 – 5 years and as much as regular paint.

    Regards
    Nandita

  9. Hi Nandita
We have doubts on modular or factory finish wardrobes or kitchen. If we go with modular ones wood wil have machine cut of 90° and if wall where it is installed is uneven then how that gap between wall and wood will be taken care. Heard that gap will be filled with silicon gel, is it ok considering look and durability, it wont go off and make way for coakroaches? We liked the finish of modular ones but concerned about above. Please clarify, we need info on this to decide to go with factory made or carpentary made. Thanks

  10. Depending on the size of the gap it may be filled with a filler (thin strip of ply) or with silicone (for small gaps). There is no issue with either and you may go ahead with modular construction.
Cockroach menace needs to be managed via a proper pest control.

  11. Hi Nandita,

  12. Hi Nandita,
