PU paint finish

Hi, have recently got a bookshelf done in marine ply, with asian pu paint finish, its been almost a year now, but now the nail joint are all popping out of the plain surface, Is there any solution for this. Dont know why this has happened. Is there any particular type of nails to be used when doing pu paint finish.
