HI,
I want to paint on my plywood and one painter suggests pasting a mdf sheet on that and paint and another one suggests applying putty directly over the ply and then paint. Please suggest the right way. Thank you.

If you are doing duco or spray paint then the MDF sheet will give a better finish. Regular wall paint or satin can be directly done on ply (preferably calibrated ply) treated with putty and primer - do however ensure that there are no joints below as over time they will expand causing the paint to crack
