Texture laminate versus Wall paper what to choose

Kishor posted 6 years ago

1. I am looking at getting a TV unit made (similar to what you have posted above), the woodwork in the adjoining dining area is American Walnut veneer and was done when we moved into the apt a few years ago.
We came across a company that does woodwork and is recommending membrane finish MDF/ply, I'm not too sure if this is a good idea..will there be a very visible difference in the way it looks from the earlier veneer stuff? more importantly, I'm worried it will look too plasticky/tacky...
2.The TV is to be placed on a wall panel as we didn't want to pass the wires through the wall in order to conceal them. someone else had suggested that we use wallpaper the company we went to is trying to push textures laminate...I'm quite confused now!!

If you are fixing your TV on top of a hollow wall panel then you will need to make the panel in min 12mm PLY. Don't risk it on MDF or Particle Board.
That eliminates the membrane option as membrane is on top of MDF.
You can decide between Veneer, Laminate or Wallpaper on ply based on your personal choice of the look. If you are using Veneer you will need a good polisher to ensure proper finish
